Near the end of Isaiah 53, the description of the Suffering Savior, we glimpse God’s intended outcome. But first, we encounter some hard truths.
Despite His miracles, compassion, and vibrant teaching, Jesus was rejected by the world. He healed many and never harmed or deceived anyone. Yet, Jesus was numbered with the criminals by the religious and buried like a rich man by others. This world didn’t know what to do with Jesus — and still doesn’t.
Even more shocking is “God’s good plan.” Despite living life focused on His Father’s will, God’s plan was to ‘crush Him and cause Him grief.’ Now, that’s not what we expect for doing our best, is it.
Jesus trusted God to produce the BEST outcome – even in an unjust, horrific situation. He knew His perfect life was the only sufficient sacrifice for sin. Jesus willingly gave His life for you and me…and pours life into us if we’re willing to receive it.
He had done no wrong and had never deceived anyone. But he was buried like a criminal; he was put in a rich man’s grave. But it was the Lord ‘s good plan to crush him and cause him grief. Yet when his life is made an offering for sin, he will have many descendants. He will enjoy a long life, and the Lord ‘s good plan will prosper in his hands. Isaiah 53:9-10
Jesus simply lived His life to reveal to all who He was, is, and always will be. We who have accepted Him as our Savior have the privilege of being vessels of His life to our world. We are given the joy of living out God’s good plan in our small dot of time.
